Novena; Saint Ann’s Feast Day

Dear Friend of Saint Ann and her Shrine,

Good Saint Ann is such an important part of our faith filled lives. She continues to impact our families everyday as we pray to her to intercede for our special intentions and guide us. Here at her Shrine, we receive phone calls, emails, and letters from our friends who share with us how Good Saint Ann has interceded for their prayerful petitions. It is truly beautiful and humbling to experience! Your devotion to Saint Ann is so genuine, heartfelt, and full of love that it’s sometimes difficult to put into words the influence Saint Ann has had in our personal lives.

The malignant covid-19 virus has already turned our world upside down for most of this calendar year 2020. This pandemic has essentially locked us in our own homes and locked us out of our ordinary places of commerce, education, worship, dining, and entertainment. All of us have keenly felt the sting of isolation and the loss of contact with groupings of people we have come to know and love, especially the community of Faith we worship with at our parish churches. If this pandemic has taught us anything, it is our need for the human touch of friends and the goodness of people we associate with every day.

This need to again gather and reach out to one another has finally arrived in part. With the gradual opening of society and in a special way of our local churches, we can once more express our love for God and for the neighbor through the Liturgy of Eucharist, the other Sacraments, and particular devotions…all with due precaution. So it is with a happy heart that the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and the staff of Saint Ann’s Shrine here at St. Paschal Baylon Parish in Highland Heights, Ohio, announce the Triduum devotions to honor Saint Ann on the evenings of July 24th (Mass at 7:00pm; Blessing of Children), 25th (Mass at 4:30pm; Anointing of the Sick), and Sunday the 26th (Mass at 7:00pm; Candlelight procession) the actual feast day! Our celebrations fall on a weekend this year so we hope you are able to join us! The church is large enough that we will be able to follow the guidelines set forth for proper social distancing.

All friends and benefactors of Saint Ann’s Shrine are invited together as a community and reinvigorate our faith as we join in the celebration of Eucharist every evening, and in the prayers to Saint Ann that she intercede with her daughter Mary and her grandson Jesus to end this pandemic and to foster a renewed appreciation of human life throughout the world. We are all in this together and we will celebrate our being back to together!

Please know that you and your intentions of prayer are remembered at the Eucharistic Liturgy Monday thru Friday in the Shrine chapel, and that your contributions, of whatever you are able to give, are appreciated for the continuing retirement and educational needs of our religious priests and brothers.

Blessings and Continued Good Health,

Roger Bourgeois, SSS Chaplain
