2019 Annual Appeal

Dear Friends of the Blessed Sacrament Community,

A year ago, I wrote to you about the launch of a new initiative, an Annual Appeal to support the mission of the Congregation in the United States and the priests, brothers, and deacons of our Blessed Sacrament Community who daily live out their Eucharistic calling through their ministry and prayer.

I want to thank the many generous donors who supported our 2018 Partners in Mission Annual Appeal. We are grateful to you.

So much has happened in the past year. We have welcomed two young men who are discerning God’s call in their lives and our Associates of the Blessed Sacrament program for lay persons is growing nationally. As we mark the 150th anniversary of the death of our Founder, Saint Peter Julian Eymard, it is wonderful to see how the Apostle of the Eucharist continues to inspire people by his love for the Eucharist.

Two of our religious went home to God a few weeks apart in August. Fr. Dennis Ruane and Fr. Michael Noreika lived very different lives, but shared a common Eucharistic calling. Fr. Dennis served in the African missions for two decades. Afterward, he pursued a degree in counseling and worked with people in addiction recovery programs and served as a guidance counselor in a large Catholic high school in Utah. Fr. Mike came from northeast Wisconsin. He taught in public high schools there and eventually at our minor seminary, where he made the decision to join the Congregation. Much of his life was spent in teaching and in parish ministry. He also served as the spiritual director of Saint Ann’s Shrine in Cleveland for ten years.

Both Fr. Dennis and Fr. Mike lived at Regina Health Center in Richfield, Ohio, where they received outstanding care. Your generosity made it possible for them to live rich, full lives even as their healthcare needs increased.

I invite you to take part in our 2019 Partners in Mission Annual Appeal. With your generous help, we will be able to continue to:

  • Support the mission of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament “to see all human reality in the light of the Eucharist” (Rule of Life, 34);
  • Support our religious in our six Blessed Sacrament Communities across the country;
  • Serve Saint Ann’s Shrine at the Provincial Center in Cleveland;
  • Provide for our senior religious who have dedicated their lives to God and serving the mission of the Church and the Congregation, and who now need specialized medical care;
  • Educate and form young men in formation who are discerning a call to our Eucharistic life.

Join us today, please, in caring for our senior members who have given their lives to serving Christ and others. We thank you for your generosity in the 2019 Partners in Mission Annual Appeal! If you have any questions regarding your contribution, please contact me at 440-442-6311 or provincial@blessedsacrament.com.

Yours in the Lord Jesus,

Father Anthony Schueller, SSS

Provincial Superior

P.S. Be assured of our continued prayers for you and your special intentions. May God bless you for your generosity!
